THE latest scoring technology, 22 lanes, an amusement arcade and a stylish bar and diner await Wycombe's keen bowlers when Eden opens.

This week, the Bucks Free Press took a sneak preview inside the new AMF Bowling Centre - one of the main leisure attractions of the multi-million pound centre due to open in just three weeks' time.

The High Wycombe centre is a unique design for AMF, with curved interiors and colourful lighting to tie in with the architecture of Eden.

Screens above each lane offer the latest graphics, including the opportunity to put players' photos on screen.

Sharing platters from the diner can be ordered to seats by the lane, so players can snack as they bowl, while a range of burgers are available for sit-down meals.

For a VIP experience, the centre offers the first AMF private lounge, with four dedicated lanes joined to a soft-seating area with plasma screens, WiFi connections and a Karaoke machine designed for birthdays, corporate events, Stag and Hen dos and tournaments.

Bosses said the lounge has already been booked for six children's birthday parties on the first Saturday after opening.

The centre can host up to 400 people at a time. The centre will open for business during the day on Thursday, March 13 when Eden launches. AMF mascot mice Bumper and Squeak will be on hand to welcome bowlers and show them around.

It will be closed in the evening for an invitation only corporate launch.

A bowling game costs £5.50 for adults and £4.50 for juniors. There will be special offers of three games for £7.50 during off peak hours and an evening offer of £10 for unlimited bowling from 9pm.

£4.50 is too much for young kids, £1.00 would be better

So one game of bowling for a family of 4 would cost £20 plus drinks/snacks and parking (assuming you can find a space). Not a cheap outing.

Lol this town is brilliant. Nobody is ever happy are they? The town centre was rubbish so what do the council do, spend millions on provding new shops, restaurants, a cinema, bowling alley etc etc. And its still not good enough! 'Oh what about the parking' - Easy theres loads of car parks! 'Oh its so expensive' - Erm no, like they say there are loads of deals that are on offer and at the end of the day things like that are supposed to be treats for kids, so whats the harm in spending a bit of cash? Lighten up! OR we could always just demolish it all and have back the way it was with loads of chavs in honda civics racing around bridge street car park and the smell of stale kebab wafting through the town into frogmoor?

Closed on its opening day for a corporate launch? Not really meant for the people of the town then is it?

Are corporate events put before the people of the town – it appears so! It appears that any member of the public wanting to go bowling on the evening of March 13th will have to travel to another town to do so!

its wrong for it to be closed to the public on the opening day! not a good first impression, its probably Wycombe DC who have booked it for the lard arses in the council who will spend all OUR money on booze and grub for "their special expenses"

It appears the facilities have not been built for the people of Wycombe if they had been we would have bee able to go bowling on the opening night. This is another example of our town being used by others for their convenience. They will drive away at the end of the day leaving us with the hideous complex bighting our town centre.

Think yourselves lucky, at the moment you have to go to Maidenhead where you have to pay lots to use the leisure centre car park, and I'm sure bowling is more expensive than it will be at Wycombe, plus it is an absolute dive. I think 10 quid after 9pm is a bargain, and it will be kiddy free! Bonus!

You could go to Aylesbury - convenient for Stoke Mandeville if you drop a bowling ball on your foot! Parking in Maidenhead and Aylesbury is free on Sundays - will the plebians of Wycombe get such luxury - I think not.

In my humble opinion, this project is the best thing that could have happened to our tired town, new shops bowling alley cinema, a tidier town, that part of Wycombe was an eyesore and will soon be a buzzing area. I will no longer have to go to Watford Oxford or Uxbridge to enjoy a days shopping.
Why is it that it's the same people that moan and groan, what would make you happy?
