A SURVIVOR of the horrific coach crash in Ecuador which killed five British women has described the moments leading up to the smash.
Sarah Martin, who is believed to be a former pupil of Dr Challoner's High School in Little Chalfont, spoke to national papers in the country's capital Quito, where she is receiving treatment.
She said: "It was terrible. We were all sleeping when a smash woke us up.
"You could hear people crying out in pain and then everything went silent."
Teeangers Indira Swann, 18, Emily Sadler, Rebecca Logie and Lizzie Pincock, all 19, and tour leader Sarah Howard, 26, died in the crash when a lorry carrying sand ploughed into the side of their coach.
Sarah is one of 15 survivors from the crash, which happened on Saturday evening as the coach travelled from Quito to the coastal village of Puerto López.
She had been part of a group travelling with Warwick-based company VentureCo, which had organised the 15-week gap-year adventure holiday throughout South America.
