SOUTH Buck's own James Corden scooped Best Comedy Performance at last night's BAFTA Television awards.
The Beaconsfield resident won the prize for his role as Smithy in BBC Three sitcom Gavin and Stacey.
The 29-year-old actor, who grew up in Hazlemere, is co-creator of the programme, which also won The Audience Award, which was voted for by the public.
The former Holmer Green Senior School pupil shot to fame in 2000 when he landed the role of Jamie in ITV1 series Fat Friends and his since done numerous film and theatre work.
Speaking when collecting his award, Mr Corden said: "You will never ever know what this means, not being funny, it is true."
The West Ham United fan, who attended Jackie Palmer Stage School, has just sold the rights for Gavin and Stacey to American company NBC, which may reportedly earn him around £1million.
