A GROUP of hairdressers who ran the Marlow 5 race have announced that they have raised £2,200 for research into meningitis.

Six stylists from the Renaissance hairdressing salon and one of their friends took part in the five mile race last Sunday in memory of Harry Mills, who died of meningitis last year at the age of 11.

Jess Denton from the salon was a close personal friend of Harry.

Jess, 21, who lives in Riverpark Drive, Marlow, said: "We had doen a lot of training but it was just so hot.

"I knew Harry since he was a baby, so it was the most rewarding I have done in my entire life."

The team ran the race in t-shirts printed with a picture of Harry, who had dyed his hair red for the photo.

Jess said: "We thought that it was very appropriate because I used to cut Harry's hair."

The money will now be donated to the Meningitis Research Foundation.
