COUNCILLORS in Beaconsfield have vowed to fight to keep the town's three post offices open.
Beaconsfield Town Council decided to write a letter outlining its views on a consultation to a nation wide closure programme, at the meeting of its planning committee tonight.
On Tuesday it was announced Beaconsfield Old Town Post Office in Aylesbury End was being considered a priority for closure - but one in Beaconsfield New Town and one in Holtspur are listed as alternative choices to face the axe.
Councillor Ian Johnson said: "It appears we are being pressured with a faite a' compli, we are being asked to see if we can sacrifice one."
Councillor Deborah Sanders said the post offices could be saved by becoming information centres.
She said: "The other way they are now, is they are using mobile post offices. We need to be aware of that option as well.
"I think it's Postman Pat and his van.
"All these we may need to use as they have been solutions in other areas."
Councillor Geoff Grover told the council: "I think it would be iniquitous of this council to speak in favour of one above all three.
"I don't think we should actually chose which turkey is going to die this Christmas, I think we should fight to save all three."
