HISTORY enthusiasts will discuss the next phase of a project to create a museum for their town tonight.

The Marlow museum centre project was set up in order to allow residents and visitors to learn about local history.

News of a response from Wycombe District Council about a possible location for an exhibtion will be announced at the meeting at Liston Hall, Chapel Street, Marlow, which begins at 8pm.

The group have discussed leasing the Peacock room at the Court Garden Leisure complex.

A proposal for a museum to be established in the town was first made by the Local History Group of The Marlow Society in 1993.

The group's aims include making it possible for residents to record memories, trace family histories, and contribute their own material to the Centre's archives for future use.

Chairman John Evans said: "Our aim is to establish a museum on the local history in Marlow. I think everywhere should have one. As Winston Churchill said a nation that forgets it's past has no future.

"Everyone should be able to learn about their town's heritage. Whenever I go somewhere new I want to find out about why its there and understand it better."

Thame Town Mayor David Bretherton will make a presentation on how the Thame museum got off the ground.

I hope the people of Marlow get their museum. I think Museums are wonderful places as they help to show people how things used to be.
