A CHARITY shop will have to close later this year because of a rise in the cost of rent.
The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home will close its Amersham store in October as it will longer be able to trade profitably.
The charity hopes to relocate to elsewhere in the town - but for now some staff will have to be made redundant.
Robert Breakwell from the charity said: "We are grateful to our landlord for supporting us over the years by allowing us to occupy the shop at a very reasonable rent, and appreciate that commercial rents have increased significantly in Amersham.
"Our trustees had to make this very difficult decision after appropriate discussions with the landlord.
"As our nurses continue to care for a significant number of patients in the Amersham area, we are keen to have a retail presence in the town and will be looking to open a new shop if suitable premises at an affordable rent can be found."
The Hospice provides 24-hour on-call care for patients with terminal illnesses who wish to be cared for at home.
They have run the shop in Sycamore Road since 2003, but other stores in High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Little Chalfont and Princes Risborough will remain open.
