RIVER racers will hit the Thames at Cookham's social occasion of the year, which takes place tomorrow.
The Cookham Regatta, which dates back to 1882, will see crews in beast themed boats and 'canoe cats' join in the racing extravaganza.
The regatta is organised and run by Marlow Thames rotary and Cookham Bridge Rotary Club.
Last year's event raised around £18,000 on the day, with 3,000 people attending.
The record attendance was 10,000 in 1890 when military bands entertained the crowds.
The event has featured in some of the paintings by Cookham's well-known artist Stanley Spencer.
Cookham Regatta committee member Trevor Perkins said: "All the funds raised go to charity, there are local ones like Elizabeth House and Age Concern and national organisations too."
The two rotary clubs pool their funds towards rotary international and their current project is the worldwide eradication of Polio.
Other attractions at the regatta include a classic car show, a tea tent, archery and a bungee jump.
Mr Perkins said: " The regatta is all about having fun in your local community and to support good causes."
