A BID for a lottery grant of £250,000 to install 'state of the art' playground equipment has been rejected.
Marlow Town Council made the application to the Big Lottery Fund earlier this year but it was announced at a meeting this week that the bid had failed.
The council hoped to extend the current area Seymour Court recreation ground, Seymour Road, Marlow and replace the old equipment.
Marlow town clerk Howard Bellairs said: “It's very old and fast reaching the end of its life. We were looking for state-of-the-art equipment to cater for the younger children, as it currently is, but also for the early to mid teens and even for adults as part of a keep fit process.
“ Obviously, we are extremely disappointed having put so much effort into preparing the bid.
"We are very disappointed because there was a tremendous effort and enthusiasm from members of the public and children.
“We are writing to the Big Lottery Fund for clarification to find out the details of why we failed. We will just have to review the position and see where we go from here. We will look at other means of funding.”
The Big Lottery Fund said they do not comment on the reasons behind failed applications.
Mr Bellairs added:“It's an immense disappointment to walk away with nothing.”
