A MUCH-loved resident at the Home of Rest for Horses in Speen has died, it has been announced.
Stevie, the little white donkey, had to be put to sleep this week after suffering an incurable attack of colic.
The 32-year-old equine won the hearts of staff and visitors during his time at the home in Slad Lane.
Stevie, who moved to Speen in 2006, was said to have adored human company and would often "squeak" for attention. He was also a big fan of his red treat ball, which was often filled with grass nuts - his favourite delicacy.
Recently however, Stevie had become "unusually quiet" and was not eating his food. Despite receiving medical treatment, he was diagnosed with incurable colic and was put down after the vet's second visit.
Staff at the trust, the oldest horse charity in the UK, have said they will miss him very much.
