A GROUP of Chesham youngsters are polishing their performance skills as they prepare to take to the stage in a mysterious show.
The children, aged between eight and 15 and all from the Waterside area, are taking part in Noah, which tells the story of the bible character and his ark.
Professional theatre director and Chesham resident Jack Milner has been rehearsing with the youngsters, and their fellow adult actors, since the summer holidays, and now they are preparing to step into the limelight when the curtain goes up next weekend.
Noah is part of the mystery series of plays, which tells the complete works of the bible and aims to show how the stories are relevant in the 21st century.
Rebecca Harris, vicar at Christ Church which is hosting the show, said: “As a church we see this as an opportunity to put on something for the local community.
“We're hoping many people will come and see the play.
“The actual show will involve the whole building, it's quite interactive – that's the idea of a mystery play. It involves the audience as well.
“It's going to be a fantastic show. We have put a huge amount of effort into it. The children are really enjoying it and having great fun.”
The play has been funded by Chiltern District Council and the Positive Activities for Young People programme, which aims to help children in areas of social need.
Noah starts at 8pm on September 13 and is followed by a matinee performance at 4pm on the 14. Entry is free but donations are welcomed.
