ONE HUNDRED years after the publication of the Wind in the Willows, Cookham’s most famous writer will be celebrated at a special centenary lecture.
Kenneth Grahame, originally from Scotland, came to live in the village with his grandmother at the age of five.
He lived at The Mount in Cookham Dean and at Mayfield, which now forms part of the Herries School.
Roger Oakes, founder member of the Kenneth Grahame Society is visiting the village to talk at the Women’s Institute hall, Cookham Dean.
Mr Oakes has written an anthology of the author’s poems and an illustrated bibliography. The lecture takes place on Wednesday, October 15 at 7.30pm.
