FIREWORKS night is beginning early for Princes Risborough, with a forgotten bonfire night event set to spark celebrations on Saturday night.

And plans are well underway for another evening of sparklers and skyrockets in Bledlow Ridge, after the half term school break.

The Rotary Club of Prince Risborough will hold tomorrow night’s display in the Princes Risborough Upper School sports field next to New Road.

Walter Adams, member of Princes Risborough Rotary club, said: “About five years ago the Round Table used to run this and it was an annual event. Sadly the Round Table is no more.”

The Rotary club, which includes former members of the Round Table, decided to reinstate the event this year, to public approval.

Mr Adams said:“When we did a little bit of ad hoc market research we were surprised how much it was missed. We have been overwhelmed with how much response it has had.”

Half the proceeds will go to the school in Merton Road, and the rest to local charities.

Entrance on the day will be £5.00 but advanced tickets will be on sale at £4.00 per person. Family tickets, for a maximum of five people will cost £15, or £12 in advance. Gates will open at 5pm for the costume and art competition which will be accompanied by the Steel Band. The bonfire will be lit at 6.15 and the fireworks will follow at 7.15pm.

But for families who may be away this weekend, there will be another chance to see rockets lighting up the sky next week.

The fourth annual Bledlow Ridge fireworks bonanza will taking place in the field restaurant next to Darusso Restaurant on Chinnor Road on Sunday November 2.

Refreshments open from 4pm and there will be a piper led procession from the Bledlow Ridge Village Hall, starting at 5pm, with flaming torches and glow sticks available. Fireworks will start at approximately 6pm, and Amersham Brass Band will also be playing.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from the Country Store in Bledlow Ridge - £6 for adults, £4 for children and £18 for family tickets - or on the door - £8 for adults, £5 for children and £22 for family tickets. All profits will go toward groups and societies in the area, including the Radnage Scouts, Bledlow Ridge Toddler Group, Bledlow, West Wycombe Community Library, and Chiltern Air Ambulance.
