Three new stores for Eden

EDEN'S garden continues to grow after three new names were announced to be opening in the centre in the next few weeks.

Ernest Jones jewellers are fitting out their shop opposite the flagship House of Fraser store, and hope to be open for business at the end of the month.

The circular cafe between the new library and M&S store, meanwhile will soon become home to London-based restaurant Richoux.

Richoux, which has restaurants in Mayfair, Piccadilly, Knightsbridge and St Johns Wood, has been established since 1909 when it opened as a patisserie and confectioner.

Planning permission is needed before the cafe can be fitted out and signage put in place, which is expected to start early next year.

Another unit has been snapped up by Bucks Board Centre, currently based in Castle Street, High Wycombe, which is hoped to open next month.

Tim Buckley, director of retail development at Brookfield, which bought Eden's developer Multiplex, said: "They're coming in which will be great. They're a fantastic operator, we're very excited about that.

"They've started fitting out and they should be open in the next three to four weeks."

Wonder what concessions are being given to encourage existing businesses to relocate to the Eden?

Garden?

Where?

Two of the new shops already have outlets in Wycombe. Are there going to be two more empty units in the old part of town as a result of this move?

Richoux, 41 South Audley Street got two stars for food hygiene. Richoux Restaurant, 3 Circus Road got three stars for food hygiene. Richoux Restaurant, 86 Brompton Road got two stars for food hygiene. Richoux Restaurant, 172 Piccadilly got a respectable four stars for food hygiene!

Two stars means more effort is required to meet all legal food hygiene requirements. Three stars means more effort may be required. Four stars means a high standard of compliance with food safety legislation.

Do we really need a restaurant chain where half of it requires a lot of effort to comply with the basic food hygiene law? Lets hope their prices reflect their poor food hygiene.

Ernest Jones is bang next to beaverbrooks another jewelrers. Where is the sense in that?
Are we supposed to be excited - I am completely underwhelmed.
oh BTW Ivor - Ernest Jones ic currently in that "great" shopping centre - the Chilterns. I have to ask, if it is so great, why are they moving out?

Obviously getting rental in is most important or they would see sense about having two jewellers in the complex, let alone side by side. Is there any truth in the persistant rumour that House of Fraser are pulling out? Bring on Debenhams we all say! Why do these places end up all the same....it is such a boring place to shop!

I'm pleased for BBC moving into Eden, they are (to my knowledge) a sole trader who have manager their business well, despite closure of the dry slope. I know it makes another empty unit in the rest of town, but let's praise the small local business, as this is what we should all champion.

Mayfair, Piccadilly, Knightsbridge and St Johns Wood, and now High Wycombe?

Does this remind anyone else of Del Boys van? New York, Paris, Peckham...

lou741,
Considering that the last figures House of Fraser released stated that sales at the High Wycombe store were 15% ahead of what was expected, I very much doubt that they will be pulling out any time soon.
Personally I am pleased we have HofF and not Debenhams but I know alot of people would like a Debenhams as well. It is a shame we can't have both really!

I love H of F - I seriously do! Sounds daft I know but going in there makes me happy.
A friend of my daughter's who worked in one of the shops in Eden said that in August a letter came round all the shops saying that there was a possibility that Debenhams were coming in instead of Hof F.
They are run by the same company, but perhaps they were wrong.
I really hope so - it is a fabulous shop.

When Eden was first mooted there was a choice between HoF and Debenhams and HoF won out - probably over the rent they were prepared to pay, or shorter rental holiday.

When they eventually decided that Eden could support 2 department stores, there was a hope that Debenhams would get it but that went to the M&S relocation.

Maybe third time lucky?

It would have been better if Debenhams had got the second store in the complex rather than M&S.

It was a shame when they moved from Church Street as their old store was far superior to their new store.

Have they got anything right with the complex? There just seems so many problems and faults with the whole thing....

Ivor, I like the new M&S store, its so much larger and better than the old one. I really like Eden full stop anyway. I often go into Eden to shop in Superdrug and Next especially and sometimes I go into Marks and Spencers and House Of Fraser. It will be lovely to shop in Eden and Christmas too, because it will have nearly everything I am looking for in one place. But I know you don't like it, but not everyone likes the same places.

But Ivor, Debenhams is a department store almost identical to H of F and you don't like that at all so how would Debenhams been any different..
