TELEVISION star Lorraine Kelly has expressed her delight that a school has finally got the go ahead for a new state of the art hydrotherapy pool.
The GMTV presenter has been a long term supporter of the fundraising campaign, which began in 2001, for Maplewood School, in Faulkner Way, Downley, High Wycombe.
The school caters for children with physical and learning difficulties.
In April 2003, she won £4,000 on Who Wants to be a Millionaire? celebrity special, which she donated to the appeal.
The total cost for the project, which includes a new building with specialist changing facilities, is around £1.7million.
It has been jointly funded by Buckinghamshire County Council and the school - including parents, staff and the Friends Association.
Lorraine said: "I'm delighted that the campaign has been successful and it will make a huge difference to all the children and young people at Maplewood."
Headteacher John Rumble said: “It is great news and a testimony to effective partnership working, to achieve the best outcome for Maplewood pupils.
“The pool will benefit our pupils and students enormously for years to come.
"On behalf of the school and Governing Body, I would like to thank everyone involved in fundraising and making this a reality.”
