GROUPS of budding singing stars from across Bucks are limbering up their vocal chords in preparation for the first heat of Eden's Xmas Choir competition.
High Wycombe's new shopping centre has teamed up with the BFP and Mix 107 to scout out the county's top singing group.
Scores of choirs from churches, schools and community groups have entered the contest and hope to be in with the chance of winning the top prize of £2,000.
The first nail biting round of qualifying heats takes place tomorrow night during High Wycombe's annual Christmas lights switch on.
From 5pm six choirs will be taking to the stage inside the centre to show off their singing skills to a panel of independent judges.
The choirs taking part tomorrow night are;
St Louis’ Catholic Primary School Choir, from Aylesbury;
The Disraeli School Choir, from Disraeli Primary school, High Wycombe;
The Holtspur School Choir, from Holtspur Primary School;
Borlase Gospel Choir, from Sir William Borlase Grammar School, Marlow;
Harmony on Heels, from Dr Challoner’s High School, Little Chalfont
Knights of Harmony, a male barbershop chorus, from Cheddington, Leighton Buzzard.
The top three will be put through to the grand final taking place next month.
Debbs Lancelott, Eden Centre manager, speaking on behalf of the judges, said: “Having heard all of the entries, we definitely have a tough job ahead of us as the standard is really high.
“To be able to give recognition to such a variety of choirs of such different ages and styles is an honour.
“It’s going to be a hard decision, but we look forward to crowning the region’s top choir in just a few weeks time.”
