YOUNG footballers at a Hazlemere club no longer have to rely on the magic sponge to treat injuries after being given new medical kits.

Holy Trinity Juniors FC were this week awarded a £500 grant from The Midcounties Co-operative to keep its players safe.

All of the money was spent on new medical kits - with one going to each of the 17 teams the club runs.

This season a record 259 players aged six to 16 are signed up to the club, which plays at the Hazlemere Recreation Ground.

Club secretary Kevin Bennett said: “We’re grateful to Midcounties for its support. We needed to replace and update our first aid kits, most of which were four years old. They are required for training and on match days.”

Sarah Buy from Midcounties said: “We were happy to support this community club which helps children keep fit, develop their football skills and of course have fun.”
