ANOTHER cat has been reported missing from Micklefield – bringing the total to at least six.

Suzanne Tarr's tom cat Max disappeared from the family home in Ashdown Road on Saturday November 8 for the second time in the space of three months.

But Mrs Tarr says she is “certain” Max had been stolen on both occasions.

She added her ten-year-old daughter Laura was “distraught” at Max's disappearance.

He first disappeared on September 17 – but was reunited with his family after he turned up in Beaconsfield six weeks later.

Mrs Tarr, a receptionist, said: “We are sure he was taken because of his behaviour since his return.

“He appeared to be in shock and kept jumping in the bath, which he has never done before.

“We got him back and he was in so much shock and traumatised he wouldn't go further than the front garden.”

She last saw Max at about 4pm on the Saturday afternoon. “We let him out and he didn't come back,” she said.

Max was adopted by the Tarr family after he was hit by a car in an accident three years ago.

He often came into their garden as a stray and was eventually taken in by the family.

Mrs Tarr, 32, said: “Since that accident he hasn't gone very far. He had a tight routine, he never used to go far.”

Daughter Laura has been missing Max more than most.

“My little girl used to pick him up like a baby and carry him,” said Mrs Tarr. “She's just distraught that he's gone.”

She has put up a reward for his safe return, adding: “I'll do whatever it takes to get him back.”

The Bucks Free Press has received several calls from pet owners after a woman from Micklefield contacted us about four cats – including one of her own – which had gone missing.

She was then followed by Sarah Maulicino from Tilling Crescent, whose five-month-old kitten Elli also disappeared (see links, right).

Phil Mansbridge of the Cats Protection League said he was mystified why so many pets were disappearing.

He said: “Cats Protection is very concerned to hear of the disappearance of these cats.”

He advised owners to keep their pets indoors at night, and to get them microchipped.  Mr Mansbridge also urged people to report disappearances to the police and RSPCA as soon as possible.

KEEP YOUR CATS INDOORS. We keep our cats indoors, not because of traffic or other animals but because of other human beings.

It says that it's a tom cat, has it been neutered? If not then it's that time of year when male and female cats have 'special cuddles' and as an unneutered cat could be doing the rounds for several weeks and should, hopefully, return to it's owners unscathed.
