Marlow Ku Klux Klan graffiti removed

4:08pm Saturday 29th November 2008

GRAFFITI depicting a white-hooded man and the letters KKK – the initials of far-right American group the Ku Klux Klan – has now been removed.

Four spray painted stencil images were found on the ramps of the Marlow skate park in Higginson Park by a concerned passer-by, who sent Buckinghamshire County Council an email asking for them to be removed.

He wrote: “As someone who works in Marlow and walks through the park everyday I find this to be extremely concerning as it is normally young children and teenagers who use that area of the park.”

This afternoon, children riding skateboards and BMX bikes at the skate park said they did not know who had drawn the images.

However, they said there is often graffiti at the park, but it is washed away by the rain or Wycombe District Council employees.

Bucks Free Press readers commented on this website, calling the images “racist” and examples of “bigotry”.
