Emergency roadworks after lorry hits M40 bridge

Comments (9)A SECOND lane of the M40 has closed while a lorry which collided with a bridge is recovered.
Emergency roadworks are now taking place before the motorway can fully re-open.
The incident happened at around 10.30am on the southbound carriageway between junction 3, Loudwater, and junction 2, Beaconsfield.
Stuart Thompson of the Highways Agency said: "There wasn't a lot of damage caused to the bridge but as a precaution we have asked an engineer to look at the situation there.
"Lane one and lane two are closed while the vehicle is recovered."
A speed limit of 50mph is currently in place, with the road not due to fully re-open until 7pm.

FOREIGN LORRIES ARE PREVALENT AND HAVE BOTH DAMAGED THE CARRIAGE-WAY (WHICH WE ALL HAVE TO PAY TO REPAIR) AND MAKE MOTORWAY DRIVING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE M40 IS FAST BECOMING A 'DEATH TRAP' WITH MANY AVOIDING IT.
I CALL UPON THE POLICE TO CARRY ON EMPLOYING CAMERAS ON THE M40 AND RESTRICT THE SPEED LIMIT TO 60 ON 'THE CUTTING' FROM STOKENCHURCH (J5) TO JUNCTION 7 - OXFORD.
HOW MANY MORE DEATHS BEFORE WE GET ACTION?

Tailgating is a bigger problem
vehicles are traveling two closely to the vehicle in front , put cameras on this road and give fines for tailgating IE £100 , this will help solve this accident black spot.

I wonder how many accidents will involve a lorry driven by an Eastern European; Is this covered under the Freedom of Information act?
