ANOTHER Castlefield home was hit by fire last night - despite police patrols in the area.

Two crews from High Wycombe fire station were called to tackle a fire in a bedroom of a semi-detached home in Spearing Road at around 9.25pm, which was brought under control shortly before 10pm.

Firefighters believe the blaze was started deliberately and investigations are currently ongoing.

The residents were not home at the time and no-one was hurt in the latest of a long line of arson attacks that have plagued the area in recent weeks.

Thames Valley Police have set up rolling patrols around the area to try to combat the problem and were at the scene last night to offer support and assistance.

White-watch firefighter, Austin Brown, attended the scene last night, he said: “Two pumps attended the scene, it is just fortunate that the people who live there were out at the time.

“The police were patrolling the area all day and night, and were there at the scene to offer support, but they can't be everywhere all the time and we need the community's help to try and stop these attacks.”
