JEREMY Clarkson and his Top Gear co-stars cruised into High Wycombe today for filming ahead of their upcoming series.

Pupils at Royal Grammar School in Amersham Road were “delighted” to see the television motoring gurus arriving to shoot an episode of the popular BBC2 series outside the school's old building.

The trio, which included, James May and Richard Hammond, were “an absolute privilege” to have as guests, headteacher Roy Page said.

“They were great with the boys, they interacted and were great company – they were wonderful.

“There's been huge excitement at the school today. The boys were absolutely thrilled when I told them about it in the assembly, there was a spontaneous applause and cheers,” Mr Page said.

The school allowed as many of the youngsters to watch the show being filmed as it could.

Enthusiastic students were bursting to get out of their lessons to but had “respected the privacy” the headteacher said.

“It's all part of their education to see what's going on with the filming, but we kept lessons going as well,” he said.

Producers chose the school location because they liked the old building and decided it offered suitable angles and space for what they had planned.

It is not known yet when the show will be aired.
