Friends gather to remember stabbed Jourdan, 20

FRIENDS of a 20-year-old stabbed to death in High Wycombe town centre gathered at one of his favourite pubs last night to raise a glass in his memory.

The Roundabout in Bridge Street was packed with friends of Jourdan Griffiths, who was attacked at the entrance to Buckinghamshire House, White Hart Street on Monday night.

A collection was held for his family and some of the proceeds from the bar were added to the fund.

And his favourite music was played over a sound system.

Organiser Ben Gildersleve said: “We were here every Saturday and Friday night. It has been strange not seeing him in front of the speakers but I feel he is here.”

Friends hugged each other and shared memories of Jourdan, who died from a single stab wound after the 11pm attack.

Faith Wall, 20, said: “He was the best person in the world. He will always be in my heart.

“Tonight is what he would have wanted – his friends to be united.”

Jamie Mooney, 20, said: “He was an absolute legend. He was always there to support you.”

Nathan Clinch, 26, said: “We can’t believe what has happened. It has affected all of us. We don’t know what to do with ourselves.”

Jourdan, who lived in the Amersham Hill area of High Wycombe, was former pupil at Holmer Green Senior School and Amersham & Wycombe College.

In tributes shortly after his death friends said they “always came first” – and last night paid tribute to his generosity.

One 21-year-old said: “I was homeless when I was 17. He and his mum let me stay with them for two months. I had only known him a couple of days and he took me in.”

She said: “I would never have thought he wouldn’t be here.”

Jason Barnes, 21, said on the day of the attack Jourdan came to his home unannounced with some shirts for him to try for an interview, then bought him lunch.

He said: “He would always think of you.

“Tonight means a lot to me. I am sorry but I have accepted what has happened, but I am angry,”

* Two men appeared in court yesterday charged with Jourdan's murder.

Lotto Williams, 18, formerly of Belmont Court, High Wycombe, and Christopher Joseph, 21, of Grenfell Avenue, High Wycombe, were jointly charged with Mr Griffiths' murder, along with “a person or persons unknown”.
