Students vote Bucks New Uni among best in country

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE New University has been named as one of the best in the country for courses and lecturers by students who cast their votes online.

The university was ranked in the top slots alongside St Andrews, Oxford, and Durham on the 'Hotcourses' website www.whatuni.com The recognition was based entirely on reviews posted by students and graduates.

The website is designed to help future undergraduate students make informed decisions about which university to attend.

The recently established site has registered over 3,000 reviews in its first five months.

In commemoration of the award, Vice Chancellor of Bucks New University received an official certificate signed by Baroness Estelle Morris of Yardley, Pro Vice-Chancellor of University of Sunderland and Advisory Board Member.

Dr Farwell said: "Our primary aim is put students first so it is fantastic for us to be recognised by our students for the quality of our courses and lecturers."

Baroness Estelle Morris said: "I think these awards are a highly welcome and important addition to information channels available to prospective students."

Mike Elms, founder of Hotcourses added: "In the end the opinions expressed in these reviews are what matter most, as they are the views of the students and so, many congratulations to all the universities that have done well."

A recent Hotcourses survey discovered sixth form students rated the importance of current university students’ knowledge and experience above that of their peers.

Obviously the BNU students that voted are as stupid as their reputation dictates.

Well to be fair....
Bucks New Uni doesn't have the highest entrance criteria in the country - also they apear to welcome convicted criminals as well...

So not really surprising.
On the other hand they do good vocational courses so I suppose it is swings and roundabouts..

Shame WDC hasnt seen benefit in partnering with Uni like some othe Towns have done
WDC could learn a lot from the initiatives the Uni are introducing to help local community and businesses

Unfortunatelly WDC dont like spending Money on improving the quality of life of local residents of the Town !

Who can't spell then?

Look at the headline:

"Students vote Bucks New Uni vote among best in county"

How many Unis are there in the COUNTY!

No wonder the hack never put his/her name to the article.

How long will it take them to correct it?

Good observation Deep Thinker! Probably a BNU student wrote the article!

No keep WDC away from the university. The university is doing fine without them.

Well it's nice that the students at BNU are happy with their lot.

But you can't infer much else from a survey which is entirely self-selecting. I expect BNU staff and/or students had a campaign to encourage voting, while unis more sure of their reputation didn't bother. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not a useful measure of how satisfied BNU students are compared with, for example, Durham students, let alone which is "better".

BNU is a great UNI, I should know I got a First Class honours degree there last year, so I think the lecturers are pretty good at there job!

Shouldn't that be "their job"?

Good for you.
May I ask in what and have you got a job that reflects it?

Congratulations to BNU. It did use to have a terrible reputation (mostly deserved) but the staff there have put in an immense amount of work to make it a more modern and better place to study.

Such a shame that some people have nothing better to do than slag off the place for daring to improve itself. If we left things to them we'd still be in the dark ages.
