A BODY was discovered on the railway line between Taplow and Burnham stations this morning.

Officers from British Transport Police were called to the scene, near Lent Rise Road in Burnham, shortly after 7am after a train driver reported seeing a body of a man.

British Transport Police and officers from Thames Valley Police are currently at the scene.

Lex Oliver, spokesman for BTP, said: "The incident is currently being treated as unexplained. Officers are working to establish the identity of the man and the circumstances leading up to how he came to be on the tracks.

“Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40."

The discovery of the body has delayed train services between London Paddington and Reading, with many trains running 45 minutes late.

Train tickets for First Great Western services are being accepted by CrossCountry, South West Trains and London Underground.

Services are likely to return to normal from 4pm onwards.
