TRAFFIC lights have been blamed for the one way system teething problems in Princes Risborough.
Since the system came into place last Monday there have been tail backs and cars queueing to get out onto Horns Lane from the High Street.
Town councillor Gary Hall said that the problem has occurred not because of the new road layout but as a result of dysfunctional traffic lights next to Marks and Spencer's on the pedestrian crossing.
He said every time a pedestrian presses the button the lights change to red straight away.
Cllr Hall said: “We have had a few days of chaos. The pedestrian crossing traffic lights outside M&S have malfunctioned.
“They have only been letting five cars through at a time before it goes to red again. Tail backs are all the way up the A410 which makes it difficult for ambulances going through from High Wycombe to Stoke Mandeville.
“I am disappointed the way it has started. I think in the longer term the one way system will prove to be successful.”
Si Kahn, Transport for Buckinghamshire spokesman said that they received a complaint on November 5 that the lights were not working.
On November 6 they sent someone to check the lights but no fault was found.
She said today another complaint was received to say the lights were malfunctioning and their sub contractors, Peeks, were going out in the next 24 hours to investigate.
