Police report thefts in High Wycombe and Chesham

RESIDENTS are being urged to be on their guard against bogus callers offering to give council tax refunds.

Police say people are being called and told they may qualify for a refund before being asked for their bank account details so the payment can be made.

In some cases residents have also been asked for a £90 admin fee to process their application.

Whilst Bucks Trading Standards are not yet aware of any offences in our area, police say it is worth being vigilant and not giving out any sensitive information to unknown callers, either on the phone or in person.

If you are due for any kind of refund you will be informed in writing by your Local Authority and no admin fee will be payable.

If you receive any such approach, contact the Police on 0845 8 505 505.

The following crimes have been reported by Thames Valley Police:

Between 1pm and 7.40pm yesterday offenders gained entry to a premise in West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe, via the front door. Property including an Acer laptop computer and two watches were stolen.

Between 6.30pm on yesterday and 8am on this morning offenders gained entry to a vehicle in a carpark in Deangarden Rise, High Wycombe, by forcing the window frame in the passenger door. The glove-box was then forced and two iPods and loose change stolen.

Overnight Saturday to Sunday offenders stole a Blue Landrover Discovery vehicle in Chesham. The vehicle has 'Chellingworth Motors' written on both sides and when stolen was displaying the index number M21 XBM. The company repairs horseboxes, so police say to be aware if a vehicle, similar to this turns up at a yard. Be sure to check the identity of anyone seen connecting a horsebox or trailer.

Anyone with information should call Thames Valley Police on 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
