Hundreds turn out for Beaconsfield architecture treat

HUNDREDS turned out for a exhibition charting the architectural history of Beaconsfield.

The original historic plans of some of the most significant buildings in the town were on display on Saturday 14 at the Fitzwilliam Centre in the Old Town.

The exhibition celebrated the launch of a new book ‘Beaconsfield, a History’, by renowned local historians, Julian Hunt and David Thorpe, which is the result of more than five years intensive research.

Mr Hunt said: “I would estimate that we had up to 400 people pass through on Saturday, many of whom were delighted to discover the original architectural plans of their property on display.

“We sold over 200 signed copies of our new book, which exceeded our expectations.

"We are hugely grateful to A & Q Architects, the successors of Burgess, Holdon & Watson, the premier architects in Beaconsfield in the early 1900’s. They kindly loaned over 100 original architectural plans.”
