A WOMAN was shocked to discover a skip had sunk through her lawn into a large hole when she woke up on Sunday morning.
Kate Scott and Paul Harding had only just moved into the property in New Road, Stokenchurch two weeks ago with their 9-month-old baby, Scott, when the accident happened.
It fell into a cesspit beneath the lawn, which they did not know was there.
They ordered a skip to be delivered to their house on Friday evening and when they woke up Sunday morning they were puzzled to discover they had no water.
An hour later Mr Harding looked out the window to find the skip had fallen through the surface of their front lawn into a hole underneath.
Ms Scott, who is 30 weeks pregnant with twins, said: “Normally my other half parks his vehicle there. If the skip hadn't been there the van would have been.
“It is just gutting it happened two weeks after we moved in.”
The property was once a council house but was sold 19 years ago.
Spokesperson for Wycombe District Council Catherine Spalton said: "While this was once a council property, we no longer have detailed records about it as it was sold through the 'right to buy' scheme almost 20 years ago."
Neighbours said that cess pits in their garden had previously been filled in.
