Houses, shops and offices proposed for Picts Lane and Hypnos sites

RESIDENTS can see plans for a major new housing development in Princes Risborough next week.

The plans outline up to 200 new houses and flats in Picts Lane and in the two former Hypnos factory sites.

W E Black in conjunction with David Parker architects will hold the exhibition required by Wycombe District Council on Wednesday at Cornwall House, Station Approach.

They want to develop the two sites by the station and between the railway and town centre into houses, shops and offices.

Town and district council member Gary Hall said: “We want to make sure we get the very best for the town. It is an exciting opportunity.

“The station area is extremely run down and that is being kind. The whole area needs regeneration clearly.

“One thing I am concerned about is the off license which closed there recently which was the only retail area down there. I would like to see provision made for a retail outlet of sorts.”

The Hypnos bed factory moved to a new site on Longwick Road throughout this year with the last staff moving in October.

Catalyst Housing would manage the whole site and there would be 40 to 50 affordable houses.

Several new office suites are proposed, including a new square with shops.

The stream which currently runs through the site through a pipe will be made into a natural stream.

The two footpaths which run through the site will be redeveloped and made more accessible for walkers and cyclists.

WE Black hope to apply for planning permission around Christmas and if this is granted to start building in summer next year.

The exhibition is open between 3.30pm and 8pm on Wednesday December 9.
