High Wycombe to Uxbridge bus service reduced

DIRECT bus services from High Wycombe to Uxbridge are to be reduced in the new year.

The 305 route between the two towns, which had its timetable changed in September this year, will now no longer stop at High Wycombe and the number of buses will be reduced.

And residents of Chesham Bois will no longer have a direct route to Slough, after the current 353 route was changed to run between Slough and Amersham. It currently runs on to Berkhampsted via Chesham Bois.

There will continue to be 12 buses a day operating on weekdays between Slough and Amersham railway station – but there will now be 11 making the return journey instead of the current 14.

The 305, which serves the Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross, will see services reduced from six to five a day, with the last bus to Uxbridge leaving Beaconsfield at 3.40pm. The last one back to Beaconsfield is at 4.45pm.

Saturday services will be reduced from four to two a day from Beaconsfield and from four to three in the opposite direction.

There will also be slight changes to departure times.

Arriva will start operating the 353 service but will drop the 305, which will now be run by Jason Tours.

The company has chosen not to continue running the High Wycombe to Beaconsfield leg of the route.

The A40 and 740 services operated by Carousel will continue.

The announcement was made today by Buckinghamshire County Council, which helps fund bus routes which private companies will not operate because they do not make enough money.

Earlier this year the council cut funding for bus services by £400,000.

The council's Cabinet Member for Transportation Valerie Letheren said: “These bus routes will continue to provide a good service for residents in the Chiltern and South Bucks area. Transport for Buckinghamshire is committed to working with bus companies to improve services.”

What with every thing else they seem to be scrapping, why not scrap this lousy town while they are at it.

As usual great Headlines from BFP.......the 5 journeys a day on the 305 has gone, but no mention of the 1/2 hourly service offered by Carousel between High Wycombe and Uxbridge/Heathrow

What's 'well said' about that? Not everyone has a car and even some who have might like to travel the 'green' way way and not add to pollution and congestion. If that's the attitude Ivor has I won't even bother to look at his blog - no doubt full of self-satisfied nonsense.
