Lucky escape for man and tot after crash

A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl and her father had a lucky escape after the car they were travelling in over turned in High Wycombe.

Driver Steve Macken saw the picture of his crashed vehicle in Cock Lane on the Bucks Free Press website and said he had a “bad night” after falling victim to the elements.

He was quick to thank the “friendly and dependable people” who came to his aid.

He said: “Obviously I had a bit of a bad night. I had been trying to get out of Wycombe for hours and only had that hill to navigate up.

"I got a little way up and the wheels locked and I started sliding towards traffic – which was strange seeing as I'd been still in traffic all night.

“I tried to get into a car park and stop the car but hit and bank and the car just flipped over.

“It was a bit frightening, no-one was injured and the car did its job but it's just the fact we had a two-year-old standing out in the snow.

“I would like to send me appreciation to all the people, duty medics, nurses, duty special police officers, first aiders, and a gentleman called Andy who called the police and ambulance for us and generally looked after us.

“A few names I can remember at this point where Andy , Kerry and Barry. The other names I am struggling to recall but I do owe them all a huge debt of gratitude.

“It is could to know that in the most adverse of conditions good dependable people exist and are happy to lend a hand when you most need it.”

I see the "journalist" who wrote this article hasn't put their name to this dross. Spot the mistakes in the last two paragraphs - “A few names I can remember at this point where Andy..." Where? WHERE? Surely you mean the names "WERE..."
Also, "It is COULD to know..." surely you mean "GOOD to know..."
Seriously, what ill-educated halfwits is the BFP employing. Shocking! 1/10, must try harder!

OH MY the grammer police are back.

Is it not better to focus on the actual article's story than the grammer, spelling and puncuation?

I think its wonderful that these people went out of their way to help a stranger.

This is what the christmas spirit is all about :)

What this story doesn't say is that just above the site where this accident happened there were multiple crashes caused by the ungritted road.
.
One car came across the railway bridge and skidded to a stop against the kerb.
.
Another car came across the bridge and did the same thing, mounted the footpath and hit the first car.
.
A third car did the same thing, hit the wall on the LHS of the footpath (luckily no pedestrians were there of they would be history), bounced off the wall, took out the street light and hit a car on the RHS that had parked up because of slippery conditions.
.
I believe that Bucks County Council are responsible for all of these crashes because they failed to adequately grit this road which has a 1 in 5 gradient (20%).
.
I think everyone should tell their insurance companies that the Bucks County Council is a fault because it was negligent.
.
Talk about minus 8 and minus 10 simply do not apply to the town centre areas.
