Bus routes hit by snow

ARRIVA buses have been ordered by police to remain at High Wycombe bus station until the roads improve.

The company blames the state of the roads and added that some routes were blocked by abandoned cars for the lull in service.

On a statement on its website the bus firm said any level of service for the rest of Tuesday would be “very limited along main roads only”.

Lets hope the drivers spent the day giving the buses a good clean, and a sweep out, then sat down and looked in the rule book on " How to be pleasant to your customers".

What??? They can read?

Ho ho. I find most of them to be pretty decent chaps: they appreciate the occasional friendly customer just like anyone else. It's not an easy job and they don't get much appreciation so try a different approach. And by the way, the PCV driving test is much more demanding than the test you took.

The PCV driving test??
Think that should be PSV = Public Service Vehicle.

I use the park and ride quite alot at Cressex and have to say that I find 95% of the drivers to be very friendly and chatty actually! Have seen alot of them put up with an awful lot of cr*p from passengers...and they take it in their stride.

Does anybody use the buses anyway?

Let's face it they are useless for getting around town.

If the buses weren't on the roads the cars could move easier and there would be less traffic congestion.

No no, right first time.

PCV = passenger carrying vehicle

To be fair to these chaps the are on the whole decent people doing a deceptively tough job. I make a 15 minute journey daily to work and it is largely without incident or delay and for me the better and less stressful alternative to having to sit in the jams myself.

That being said, I can see why it's not everyones cup of tea, and the last few days have been hit pretty bad.

When you say improving, please define?

Because as far as I can see, the busses are still as disgustingly dirty as they always were, the people on them are ruder (and smellier) than ever, they are no more reliable, and they still damage the environment more than any other form of transport (with the possible exception of empty steam trains)

Busses are part of the problem, not the solution. The sooner as people start realising that the better, because the we can start looking for a transport solution that works....

I personally know a bus driver who spent 6 hours getting his 40 foot bus safely to Wycombe bus station around 9.30pm. Unable to get home, that is where he spent the night along with similarly placed drivers. During the night they went out to try to retrieve some of the buses which had not made it only do find them mindlessly vandalised and in one case, some sad soul had defecated on the driver's seat. He eventually got his bus back to Cressex and picked up his car. He got home on the third attempt, around 10.30am, the first two attempts having to be aborted because the steep hills were blocked with abandoned cars, snow and ice. Wonder how many people would have wanted to or been capable of driving a bus in the prevailing weather conditions.

Ivor and 'Hit me HARD' are made for each other - neither of them know what they're talking about!

'Buser' thanks for your report: how appalling what some sad sub-human creatures get up to. They need putting in the stocks.

The council like to save money where they can so they say. OUR MONEY!!!!!!! We want OUR money spent on US and not on THEIR PENSION POT.
Why dont they put all the money they get through fines for cars put back into the roads and stop telling us lies about they have no money. They get every houshold to cough up council tax and or business rates every month so how on earth can they say they have no money????
We know you have money OUR money and all we want is a proper service. IF you cannot do the job i suggest you stand down and let a private company do it on a retainer scheme. I bet every road would be gritted and salt put down then!

Well done John Lewis for a great bit of ADVERTISING.
I have had to take John Lewis PLC to county court for not fixing my Toshiba Teleivision Properly under their so called 5 years Guarantee. Its WORTHLESS, just a selling point of SALE JARGON.

I sent them my reciept and then heard nothing! Then i complained and they sent someone out to collect my tv and gave me a loan tv untill my one was fixed.
I then got a call to say my tv was fixed. When they dropped it off i noticed straight away it had a crack on the top casing and a piece visibly missing. Not only that they said they wanted to take their tv back. I refused to accept my broken tv as the picture was not proper as it should be, pixels were missing and the fact that it was damaged.
I sent a letter to their managing director and they had the audacity to say they wanted £600 for the loan tv because i didnt give it back. Anyway, i issued a law suit againt the Managing Director of the whole company, in his name. That made them sit up and listen a bit but they had it changed at court to J L PLC.
They refuse to give me £1300 back which i paid for the tv and say its over 5 years old but cannot prove this at all. Hence i will be fighting my case in High Wycombe county couRt in Feb 2010

SO JOHN LEWIS PLC HIGH WYCOMBE BRANCH.
YOU ARE NOT SO GOOD AFTER ALL.
I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM OTHER PEOPLE OF HIGH WYCOMBE WHO HAVE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE AT THE JOHN LEWIS HIGH WYCOMBE BRANCH WITH REGARDS TO THE "SO CALLED"5 YEAR GUARANTEE ON THEIR TELEVISION SETS
