Refuse rounds cancelled in Wycombe, Chiltern and South Bucks districts

Bin collections suspended in Bucks Bin collections suspended in Bucks

BIN collections in the Chiltern and South Bucks districts have been suspended until the weather improves.

Refuse lorries have been unable to travel along rural roads due to the icy conditions.

A statement from Chiltern District Council said it was “unlikely” services would resume tomorrow – meaning rubbish will not be collected until after Christmas.

In South Bucks collections will take place on the next due date.

For enquiries regarding refuse, recycling and street cleansing in the district, call 01895 837362.

Meanwhile, Wycombe District Council has announced all green bin collections will be suspended this week so that crews can concentrate on the grey bins and recycling box services, once conditions improve.

Ok, so how about we all pay our council tax a little late aswell then? Seeing as 2 of the services we should have received have either been inefficiently delivered or extremely delayed? Our bin is currently very full - and should have been emptied tomorrow - and with the amount of wrapping paper, food packaging etc that will be used over the next few days, is going to be severely overflowing this time next week. So do we keep all of our rubbish in the house for the next week? Or put it out for the wildlife to claw through and litter the streets?

Perhaps if the council gritted the roads as they should the bin collections would go ahead

Hit me hard - stop moaning about people moaning!! Im feeling very festive and looking forward to Christmas, but there is no harm in airing your concerns especially when it comes to the local council! Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas...but if you have a gripe, thats what these forums are for :-)

^ Yeah, but I think we established everyone's gripes already - over the last few days, time & time again. Now snap out of it & get on with ur lives - because if everyone carries on at this rate, none of you will have a merry christmas.

I however will. I am drinkin already.

Yes, well I have a glass of wine in hand too funily enough, but as previously stated, people are entitled to vent their frustrations and opinions. Especially if they have been directly affected by the recent problems. If it offends or annoys anyone they dont have to read :-)

It's about time the crazy green bin scheme was abandoned. It's more trouble than it is worth.

Think of all the rotting food left lying in the un-emptied green bins. It will only help to encourage rats.

I've got a rotting corpes in my bin, it's starting to attract flies, wish the council would get their act together and collect it

Trust Ivor to post an un-educated comment! Of course the rats will run amock in our un-emptied bins.

....except for the fact that the best way of killing large numbers of them is to have a prolonged spell of cold, and even snow.

Of course, there's no chance of that happening around here any time soon...

And as for scrapping the crazy green bin scheme. Great idea. It snowed, so lets all stop recycling. Great idea...

I saw South Bucks bin lorry stop at the bottom of my close and then move on down the road without making any attempt to collect my rubbish. I called South BUcks District Council and a ver nice lady informed me that the team on the lorry would have carried out a risk assessment and if the side roads or footpaths hadn't been gritted (fat chance, the grit bin ran out on Saturday and despite calls to Buckinghamshire County Council still hasn't been refilled) then the bins would not be collected!
.
I offered to carry my rubbish down to the main road and she arranged for the crew to come back and collect it. Pathetic!

I'm really sorry, I might be misreading your last sentence, but how is that pathetic? You surely can't expect the bin lorries to come down ungritted roads - can you imagine the kerfuffle if one skidded and hit a car or, god forbid, a person? They don't travel fast, but if they did hit something they would cause a fair bit of damage. It isn't the fault of the bin men that the roads haven't been gritted, after all.
.
I would say that the fact that the lady on the phone arranged a specific collection for you, and the bin men did it, that is the exact opposite of pathetic.
.
With all due respect, that is, in my opinion, above and beyond what you could expect - the bin men are people as well - if the advice coming from the Met Office is to avoid driving, why should they risk themselves to collect your rubbish?
.
Be grateful you got a collection - most people won't.

The council like to save money where they can so they say. OUR MONEY!!!!!!! We want OUR money spent on US and not on THEIR PENSION POT.
Why dont they put all the money they get through fines for cars put back into the roads and stop telling us lies about they have no money. They get every household to cough up council tax and or business rates every month so how on earth can they say they have no money????
We know you have money OUR money and all we want is a proper service. IF you cannot do the job i suggest you stand down and let a private company do it on a retainer scheme. I bet every road would be gritted and salt put down then!
