ANGER over Monday night's chaos on the roads in Bucks has spilled over into cyberspace after a group criticising the county council was set up.
Nearly one hundred people have so far joined the group on social networking website Facebook hitting out at an article in Bucks County Council's quarterly magazine 'Buckinghamshire Times', which said the council was prepared for winter.
The group – called 'Gritters!! What Gritters??' - questioned this statement (see link, bottom of story).
Its description asked: “Why is it that the roads in Buckinghamshire have not been gritted? Who is to blame for this? Does the County Council not watch the weather forecasts?”
The group, set up by Fredda Yates, called on Facebook users to “Let them [the council] know how you feel”.
Council bosses told the Bucks Free Press yesterday they had done all they could to tackle Monday's snowfall.
Eric Meek said roads were gritted on Monday morning, but when more snow fell later in the day gritting lorries were unable to get through because of the volume of traffic.
He said it was the worst conditions he had seen in 15 years, adding: “There is people phoning in complaining left, right and centre.
“You have just got to accept what they are saying. They were stuck in traffic, they want to vent their anger at people. We have to put up with it.”
Other Facebook groups have been set up, hitting out at further local authorities across Britain.
Another, 'I survived the snow induced gridlock in High Wycombe 2009', has also been set up (see link below).
