AMERSHAM and Chesham Bois Choral Society is celebrating an impressive 75 years of music-making with a celebrity concert featuring its president and internationally renowned soprano Dame Felicity Lott.

Dame Felicity, who became affiliated with the society in 2001, has agreed to take to the stage to mark the anniversary, performing Britten's Les Illuminations as well as taking on the role of soloist in Poulenc's Gloria.

Tony Knight, editor of the choir's magazine Tutti, says: "This is not the first time Dame Felicity has performed with the society.

"She sang at the Queen's Jubilee concert in 1977 and in a performance of Tippett's Child of our Time in May 1982. It is tremendous that she is coming back to sing at this concert."

More than 120 members of the society is to take part in the anniversary concert, under the baton of its conductor and musical director Ian Hooker.

The concert is taking place at the Wycombe Swan on Saturday, May 22 at 7.30pm. Tickets: 01494 512000.
