Prestwood Junior School joins in Caps 4 Kids

CHILDREN from Prestwood Junior School were given the chance to wear caps for the day to raise money for research into childhood cancer.

Pupils gave £1 to wear a cap to school and remembered past pupil, Thomas Ball, who died in 2003 aged 14 from neuroblastoma.

The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund, started by Thomas in 1999, marked International Childhood Cancer Day which is on February 15 by asking schools in Bucks to help fundraise.

Prestwood pupils held the fundraising day on the last day of term to raise awareness of childhood cancer and help fund research into finding a cure.

The 'Caps 4 Kids' campaign does not just include children as companies can also get involved by allowing employees to wear caps, hats or wigs to work for one day during the month of February and donate towards the fund.

Jane Horspool from the school's office said: “We are doing this in honour of Thomas Ball who was a pupil at this school.

“Mr Deans, the headteacher, has very fond memories of Thomas being in his class and we are more than happy to support the charity in his memory.”
