POLICE have launched a public appeal to help track down a missing 71-year-old man.

Cyril Beatty left his Bracknell home in Wokingham Road in a blue Ford Fiesta, registration number R780 TLR, at about 6.35pm yesterday.

He was due to drive to Liscombe, Birch Hill, but was spotted on Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) equipment in High Wycombe at around 9.30pm and did not arrive at his destination.

Family and police are now growing increasingly concerned about the pensioner's well being following his “out of character” disappearance and are appealing for the public to help return him home safely.

Mr Beatty is described as white, 6ft 4ins, slim and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a red lumber jacket shirt and black trousers.

PC Justin Lelliott, leading the search, said: “Mr Beatty’s car was captured on Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) equipment in the High Wycombe area at about 9.30pm, although we are not ruling out that Cyril could have driven elsewhere since then.

“If you see Mr Beatty or his car, please contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information about Mr Beatty’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505, quoting URN 1474 of 9/3/10.
