Chesham residents to have their say on building plans

PLANS for new houses in Chesham are to be discussed at a public meeting this evening.

Up to 650 new homes could be built in the town by 2026 as part of Chiltern District Council's 'Core Strategy'.

Last week the council started a public consultation to get residents' views on the plans before going ahead with a Government-led scheme to build 2,900 new homes in the district.

Waterside and the former Amersham and Wycombe College site in Lycrome Road are among the sites to have earmarked for development by planners.

The meeting, which is being hosted by Chesham Town Council, will consider what effects the new houses may have on the town, including road congestion, air pollution, water supply and sewerage, affordable housing and community facilities.

Following the meeting, the town council will feedback its views and those of residents to the district council.

The meeting will be held at the Town Hall from 7 pm.
