A PUB in Radnage has been chosen to host Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton as he tours the country on a bicycle.
Paul Heaton, formerly of the Housemartins, is starting his tour at Coronation Street's Rovers Return in Manchester for a quick half before playing at 16 other pubs.
The singer will perform at The Three Horseshoes in Radnage on May 10 at 7pm during his 1000 mile tour to save the English pub.
Owner Simon Crawshaw, 38, said: “I have been a life long fan since the 80s when he started out in the Housemartins with Norman Cook.
“We are all really excited and looking forward to it. We have never done a gig on this scale here before.”
There are 200 tickets up for grabs and there will be a marquee added at the back of the inn to accommodate numbers.
The tour starting on May 5 and finishing on May 23 wants to celebrate and promote cycling and the British watering hole.
Fans are encouraged to cycle to the gigs and to join the journey between shows with Paul and his team.
Heaton said: “I’m looking forward to pedalling around the country to promote cycling and the British pub. Both are very close to my heart.
“I’ve been cycling all my life and the British pub has provided most of my favourite stop off points. It saddens me to hear about so many pubs closing on a weekly basis so I want to do all I can to get people back to their local.”
He will be playing tracks from his new solo record as well as the occasional song from his extensive back catalogue.
The pub has 50 tickets available from 01494483273 but need to be collected in person. There are also 150 tickets from www.paulheatonmusic.co.uk or www.gigsandtours.com. Tickets cost £15.
