Car stolen during test drive in High Wycombe

A BMW owner looking to sell his car had it stolen during a test drive in High Wycombe.

While out on the test drive, the owner of the silver BMW 330 pulled into the Shell service station in Marlow Road before getting out the vehicle.

The thief then got into the driver's seat while the owner was out the car and drove off in the direction of the M40.

The incident happened at 9.20pm last Friday evening. Details have been released by Thames Valley Police today as a witness appeal was launched.

Officers describe the offender as white, 6ft1ins tall and slim. He is described as looking weather-beaten and has fair-coloured hair.

Anyone with information should call Det Con Richard Hobson at High Wycombe police station on 0845 8 505 505 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Do they sell pizza at Shell garages?

....and maybe the guy didnt steel it - he was just saving this guy from the shame of owning a BMW?

why is it always the police's fault things happen? Numpty left his keys in the car with a stranger...and sometimes things are delayed in being released at the request of the victim or for other operational reasons.

One word - doh!

My Dad reckons that a lot of BMW owners only buy them for one reason - it's the only name they can spell...!

Ahh, nothing like a bit of BMW envy. Most people buy them because they are great drivers cars.

As for this guy, I feel sorry for him. I suppose it would be good practice to see the drivers licence before taking him/her out for a test drive, that way you can note the address down.

BMW's are great drivers cars? Perhaps they are but it seems the vast majority are bought by selfish w**kers with no consideration for other road users.

Great drivers cars?

Have you ever actually driven one? I owned one once and can categorically say it was the worst driving experience of my life. Would have happily traded it in for a nissan Micra....

...so this guy should count himself lucky. At least he wont get beaten off from the lights by old ladys in skodas any more...

Thats a bit harsh, I am sure that these "w**kers" would be the same if they drove any other car.

Just like all Liverpudlians are not criminals, and all Welsh people don't have a unhealthy affliction with sheep, all BMW drivers are not inconsiderate w**kers.

Are you sure it was a BMW? I have had 8 and find them to be great to drive and very reliable.

It was definitely a BMW. And definitely rubbish. They spent far too long worrying about automatically dimming rear mirrors and traction control and forgot that someone might, one day, want to actually drive it.

The number of times I nearly crashed pulling out of a junction as 1 wheel spun on a bit of loose grit - which the traction control interpreted as certain death, and chopped the engine power leaving me stationary in the middle of the road....

Would be happier in a mobility scooter.....

LMAO they were probably sitting in the layby up the road eating doughnuts when the BMW went past, they probably looked and thought 'not doing over the speed limit by 1mph so therefore that car does not contain criminals' ! Harsh but true !

Hey Hitme hard, you clearly have no idea how to drive! I'm guessing you were also one of the fools wheelspinning in the snow wondering why you weren't actually moving anywhere!

Ha ha ha, doesnt sound like it is the car at fault then Hit Me Hard, sounds more like your driving chap !

Had a BMW myself and found it to be a pinpoint, balanced and poised car all in all. Definitely worth the horrendous servicing costs as well.
