THE future of a Beaconsfield football team has been given a big boost with the opening of a new clubhouse.

The clubhouse and changing rooms of Beaconsfield SYCOB FC were opened by the mayor of Beaconsfield last weekend.

Ken Barrett, secretary of the club, said: "We are trying to be a Community Club which means that we have to have at least ten sides of all ages and we think we are just about there now."

The Football Foundation gave the club an £80,000 grant for the clubhouse, and supporters and directors either sponsored or under-wrote the remaining money.

Town Mayor Graham Smith said: "They have got a great facility down there with senior teams and youth teams.

"I think it is about time people in the town got behind them and started supporting them.

"Most of them seemed to be Arsenal supporters and I am a Spurs fan but the afternoon was very enjoyable. It went very well."
