FAMILY and friends of Natasha Derby, who was gunned down at a party, took to the streets on Saturday to search for clues about her killing.

Community workers and volunteers from the black community were joined by police in Church Street, High Wycombe, to hand out leaflets appealing for information.

Natasha, 23, of Crest Road, High Wycombe, was shot in the head while dancing at the multi-racial centre in St Mary Street at 2.30am.

Chief Supt Simon Chesterman, area commander for Chiltern Vale Police, said: "This is a major inquiry and the black community want to keep it on the agenda.

"It is the biggest crime that we have had for some time.

"For someone to go into a party with a loaded firearm and a young woman to be shot in the head it was a shock for the community."

Chief Supt Chesterman said the police did not have a suspect and are working on a number of theories.

Members of the town's black community suggested holding the event.

Jenni Phillips, a volunteer with SV2G, a group for second generation families from St Vincent and the Grenadines in High Wycombe, was among those handing out leaflets.

She said: "It is just a terrible thing that has happened.

"We are just trying to prick people's conscience.

"She was somebody's sister. To have something like this happen is horrible."

Police have recently made the unusual step of setting up an email for people to come forward and give information.

Anyone at the multi-racial centre on Saturday, September 4, is urged to contact the incident room on 0845 8 505505 or email Natasha.help@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk. If you don't want to speak to police or don't want to leave your name, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
