FA Cup 4th qualifying round Billericay 3, Flackwell Heath 0.JAMES CLEMENTS reports from New Lodge.

FLACKWELL Heath's fairytale came to an end as were dumped out of the FA cup by Ryman League full-timers Billericay Town on Saturday.

A determined Heathens side came to defend and frustrate a Billericay Town side who were flattered by the 3-0 score.

Billericay went ahead midway through the first half but were made to sweat before they made the game safe with two goals in the last four minutes to earn a home time against Conference side Stevenage Borough in the first round proper.

And Flackwell's disappointment at failing to reach the first round for the first time in their history boiled over when Derek Payne was sent off late on for his second booking.

It was a disappointing end to a magnificent run which has seen the Heathens breeze past four higher league teams and bank £11,000 in prizemoney.

But for the second time in two years, it was a bridge too far.

Flackwell's first strike on goal during the match was a Matt Glynn effort which lacked the power to trouble Blues keeper Paul Gothard.

The deadlock was broken in the 25th minute when midfielder Steve Forbes rose to meet a Danny Kerrigan cross and head it down past keeper Paul McCarthy.

Minutes later Town were again at the Flackwell Heath goal only for the ball to fly over.

Just before half-time Flackwell's Matt Rolfe screamed out of nowhere to intercept a Billericay strike that would have certainly doubled the hosts' lead.

Heath came out strongly in the second half as they struggled to get an equaliser but could not get past a solid Billericay midfield.

But the hosts again broke through, with one shot ricocheting off the woodwork.

Desperate Flackwell defending kept out another shot when defender Grant Eaton cleared off the line.

Lanky hitman Warren Coborne was substituted in the 77th minute for Gordon Hill as Flackwell tried to regroup.

And with the minutes ticking away frustration began to creep into the visiting side.

Billericay captain Jamie Dormer passed a ball through to Ross Wareham who found himself with nothing but the keeper between him and the goal.

A flustered Paul McCarthy dived at the feet of the on-rushing striker bringing him down for a penalty which Leon Hunter made no mistake converting.

Minutes later Payne saw red for his second bookable offence.

Already booked for a clumsy tackle, he appeared to grab the shirt of an opponent only for the Blues player to tow him straight past the referee.

In the first minute of stoppage time Billericay captain, and former Spurs YTS player Jamie Dormer, hammered the final goal of the afternoon home from close range.

Heath manager Byron Walton said: "We did not play too badly. I thought the better team on the day won. We did what we set out to achieve for the first 25 minutes and we weathered the storm.

"The second and third goals really did not really mean a lot right at the end. I think they all gave a good account of themselves."
