A CANCER research shop is in the pink after the success of their fundraising day.

The shop in Station Road, Beaconsfield, raised more than £600 for the charity as part of its Pink Day last Thursday.

Pink-themed gifts were on display and shop manager Tara Williams even made pink cakes and biscuits for staff and shoppers.

Pink arts and crafts stalls were on sale alongside other pink-themed gifts.

Tara, who has only been running the shop for three months, said: "As a new manager it was good for me to get out into the area.

"I think there is a very strong sense of community in Beaconsfield and people really responded to what we were doing.

"We had regular customers who stopped to have a cup of tea.

"We had twice the number of people that we normally have and a lot of people stayed for longer."

The day raised £688 for Cancer Research UK.

"Another £73 was raised by people buying Think Pink badges," she said.

Extra volunteers were running the shop on Thursday to help things go smoothly.

"We could not have done it without them," she added.
