HUNDREDS of disabled children from special schools in Essex and east Hertfordshire were at Harlow Sportcentre and the Outdoor Pursuits Centre on Monday for a Sports Experience Day organised by the President's Sporting Club.
The club has raised over £1m which has been given to schools and organisations to provide sporting facilities and opportunities for disabled children in the area.
Taking part in sport increases the children's self confidence, physical development and self esteem and helps them to meet challenges that they may face later in life.
An essential part of the programme is the Sports Experience Days, when disabled children from special schools are given the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sporting activities.
Former world trampoline champion Carl Furrer and ex-goalkeeper Ray Clemence were among the celebritires from the world of sport and television who supported the day.
