A FATHER has spoken of his horror after burglars crept through the bedroom of his two children while they slept and then stole £8,000 in goods from the family home.

Burglars broke into the Thompson family home in Egham Green, Bourne End, between midnight on Friday, September 9 and 6am the next day.

Five-year-old Abbie Thompson and her brother Thomas, 11, woke up on Saturday morning to discover their school dinner money and favourite toy had been stolen by the silent thieves.

Dad Steve Thompson said: "The thought of criminals being in my house while I was asleep and sneaking around my children's bedrooms makes me sick.

"The police call these type of burglars creepers.

"They even stole the kids' school dinner money out of their lunch boxes, it was only £12 but that's not the point.

"It's totally pathetic. That money was intended for their school trips to Windsor Castle and Longridge Scout Boating Centre in Marlow.

"To add insult to injury the burglars loaded the goods into my car and drove off and the police told me the car was used in another burglary in Slough later that day."

The thieves helped themselves to thousands of pounds worth of goods including the children's school dinner money, a laptop computer, the children's Sony PlayStation, and a handbag, containing cash, credit cards and a mobile phone.

Among the items believed to be stolen is a white gold wedding ring, inlaid with diamonds, which mum Nicola Thompson inherited from her nanny 18 years ago.

Police believe the burglars gained access to the house via an insecure back window and crept into the children's bedrooms while they were sleeping.
