A PARENT from Loudwater is fighting to stop a day nursery opening in her busy street.

An application has been made to Wycombe District Council by a resident in Robinson Road to convert part of her property into a day nursery for 12 children.

However Linda Hughes, who lives in the street, believes the amount of traffic that uses the road would make it unsuitable for a nursery.

She said: "I am really concerned there is going to be more congestion in the road which is already very busy.

"Cars use the road as a rat run to get to the A40 and we have parking problems because the road is narrow.

"If we have parents dropping off their kids it will only get worse because most of them will be arriving at the same time. It will be chaos."

Mrs Hughes, who has a child at a nursery herself, is also worried about the safety of having a nursery close to a busy road.

An original application made earlier this year for a nursery to hold 24 children was rejected after 36 letters of objection were sent to the council by residents.

The application was made by Catherine Rippin, a nursery manager, who said the nearest facility for pre-school children was in Flackwell Heath.

She said: "My intention is for the nursery to be offered primarily to serve the local community. I believe the service I am offering should dec-rease any congestion as there will be fewer vehicles on the road.

"I understand that changes can cause uncertainty but would like to reassure my neighbours that I would do my best to consider other residents in the area."
