CREATIVE students from Sir William Ramsay School are celebrating after getting perfect marks in their art exams.

The GCSE and A-level pupils were amongst an elite band in the country to not drop a single mark.

The school in Rose Avenue, Hazlemere, is a visual arts college, giving students the chance to study more than just one arts subject.

Three students, Georgina Reynolds, Kylie Tam and Richard Holt, all received letters from their exam boards to congratulate them on being in the top ten students across the country taking their respective subjects.

Many A-level students from the school were accepted onto degree courses without having to do the traditional foundation course normally expected of art students at university.

Annie Hearne, arts college co-ordinator and advanced skills teacher at the school, said the standard at GCSE level was also outstanding, with eight students achieving 100 per cent in their chosen art subject.

Pupils were given a wide option of subjects to choose from, including textiles, art and graphics, sculpture and photography.

Mrs Hearne said: "The students are amongst an ever increasing number each year to attain 100 per cent. The school is becoming widely known for students receiving such high grades.

"Students are offered outstanding specialist teaching at Sir William Ramsay. Students here are inspired and enthused by their teachers and other students. It is a combination of this, with dedication and motivation which enables them to achieve at this level.

"We continue to be proud of their achievements both at this school and in further education."

The school is holding an open evening on Thursday, September 22, where some of the art work that went towards the students getting their grades will be on show.

People are welcome to view the displays between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
