CAMPAIGNERS against a controversial mobile phone mast have vowed to fight on after T-mobile appealed against its planning rejection.
As previously reported, the mast in Wycombe Road, Marlow, had its planning application rejected by Wycombe District Council before Christmas after a campaign from residents.
T-mobile had been forced to submit a full planning application because its original permission was quashed via a consent order in the High Court in the summer.
Now the phone giant, which erected the mast in December 2004, is appealing to the planning inspector against the latest decision in a last ditch attempt to keep the mast.
It has remained inactive since it was erected but If the appeal is unsuccessful it will have to be taken down altogether.
David Reynolds, 46, a father of three who took the legal action, said the appeal was expected and that another campaign by residents was imminent.
He said: "It will mean knocking on doors, getting people to write to the inspector, and putting posters up. We also want something visible to show our opposition nearby so when the inspector makes a site visit he will see how upset everybody is."
A T-mobile spokesman said they were appealing against the grounds on which the mast was refused.
In the refusal notice, the council said the mast would "constantly remind" residents and nearby bus stop users of health fears resulting in a "detrimental effect" on the area.
Views should be sent to the inspector by February 16.
